Background of the Study

While there was free time at school, the researcher was thinking of a topic for her mathematical investigation. At that time, a classmate and friend of hers approached her and the researcher asked her about the classmate’s project which is an extension of a former mathematical investigation. From that, the investigator thought of another focus which this project tackles.

Mathematics Problem

Problem
What general equation will be formed that can represent the number of line segments which can be formed by connecting equal number of points on the sides of a regular polyhedron?

Field
Geometry

Purpose
To formulate an equation that gives the number of line segments which can be formed by connecting equal number of points on the sides of a regular polyhedron.

There is already a formula in getting the number of diagonals of faces of polygons and of skewed vertices of polyhedrons. However, the researcher thought of a way to join both without using these two formulas so the investigator thought of this problem, applying it to regular polyhedra.

Date Started

Target
The target of this project is to make a formula for all nine regular polyhedra.

Problem

Problem
What is the effect of Ipomea batatas leaves on the mitotic activity of sea urchin cells?

Field
Biology

Purpose
The field of Medicine has always been in constant search for a cheap and readily available cure or prophylactic cure for cancer.

Ipomea batatas
(Camote) is a known staple food and the edible parts are the tuber and the young leaves or tops. Being a green leafy vegetable, the tops are full or nutritious elements good for the body. But what if, aside from its nutritive value, it also has some medicinal properties, particularly anti-cancer?

The research is a preliminary study to determine the anti-cancer effect of Ipomea batatas leaves by studying its amitotic ability on sea urchin cells. By identifying its amitotic effects, one can surmise that camote tops may have some anti-cancer properties which may prove another advantage to its intake.

Kick it, Pump it! [Intrams Day 3]

After defeating the Blue Vaio, Red Macintosh defeated the Yellow Asus in Sepak Takraw Girls Championship Game.

Although junior player Alpha Colocado suffered a sprain since the day before, she together with Karen Vie San Juan and Isidra Cruto won over the Yellow Asus players not only once, but twice.

After winning against seniors, the red team proceeded to the game against the yellow team. Since the sophomores haven't lost in any game, the juniors needed to beat them two times. In both cases, the Macintosh turned out victorious.

Cheerers from both teams roared out their yells to boost the spirits of the Sepak players.

Though many of the points of each team came from faults in service, both teams still
showed skill and determination. Truly, their perseverance in practicing gave the teams a great advantage over others.

GO MACINTOSH!!!

Freshie Girls Got Game! [Intrams Day 2]

One of the games of the second day of the sports fest was volleyball, where girls from Green Acers and Red Macintosh faced with each other.

This happened exactly after the basketball game of the same teams, where some of ithe red team's players were also players for volleyball. With this fact, no wonder some of the best volleyball players said they were not in the condition to play.

After three sets of rallying between the two teams, the freshmen emerged victorious. This was the time when Helen, a first year student, started to get famous, with volleys hard to return.

The same day, the female Acers were also able to defeat the other two teams in volleyball. Unbelievable? No. Amazing? Yes!

Macintosh volleyball players will stand up once more!

Jumpstarting the Sportsfest [Intrams Day 1]

With grace and perseverance, CNSHS students began the intramurals with the cheer dance competition. Showcasing different steps and grooves, the audience roared with excitement as each team presented the performance they all worked hard for.

With every movement, CNSHSians watched with enthusiasm as they saw their schoolmates dance with much vigor. Even the guests of the day were taken aback by the energy given off by the cheer dancers.

Smiling through every cheer, yell and song, the dancers were not only able to entertain the other students, teachers, and guests but also lift up the spirits of the players who will play in the following days of the sports fest.

The whole school shook with anticipation as the results of the winners were announced. What came up was that the Green Acers was fourth, Yellow Asus was third, Blue Vaio was second and Red Macintosh was first!

Though there were some who shouted pull-downers, the champions for this event continued to celebrate their victory.

Great start Red Macintosh!!!

Making of a scientist...Review

Their inspirations in making their research is common, like their family. Though it was like this, they are pretty good since they get interested in fields and become passionate for it. It inspires me that there are people who are like that. Hopefully, when the time comes, I become like them, using their passion in order to do good to our country. It is also amazing that these people have wonderful ideas in mind which are relevant to our country's present condition.
